If you want the seat to return to 90 degrees mount it that way as home. The plates are square so a 90 degree turn is a mounting issue not a plate issue. Otherwise the question doesn’t make sense so feel free to clarify and I’ll send you a video

Could you be more clear with your question Stuart? What dimension are you trying to make the 3 x 3 mounting plate fit to? The mounting plate on this ad actually measures 7" x 7". There are slots in the place where the mounting screws go that allow you to move the screws in or out a bit if the holes on your furniture don't quite fit.
