All drying racks do a similar job
After many years, the switch on my old towel warmer gave out, so I perused Amazon for a replacement. I saw all of the reviews for many models that told about the poor performance of warming racks. They are true and to be expected. As you may remember from high school science class, cloth is a poor conductor of heat. We all know this as we often use a tea towel to grab something hot to protect our hands. So, a towel will warm up only at those places where it actually sits against one of the warm racks. Unfortunately, at least half of the rack is "empty space" so those areas obviously cannot heat the towel. This leaves us with a good portion of the towel that will never be really warm, no matter what company's product you select. The best towel warmer is where there is a heated panel rather than racks. (Like my old one). I was unable to find any new ones like this (except if you count the on the wall room heaters which are very expensive). So, my advice, don't pay more than you need to for a rack towel warmer, and have low expectations (better than nothing and at least it helps dry out the towel between uses).

Works GREAT!
I bought one a few years ago and since it had mounted it to the wall, it stayed in the house when it was sold. I promptly ordered another when I moved into my new home. It keeps the towes dry and warm. I have it on a timer so it goes on at 6am and stays on until 11am. That pretty much covers my usage. Remember, there is a switch on the unit. I had a friend that spent dollars having an electrican wire one up for her. It "didn't" work". Electrican returned, said the unit must be defective, took it down and she returned to the place she bought it. They reached down and pressed the switch and viola, it worked. In her defence, the was covered with a black rubber water proof cover. Just say'n:)

I love these towel warmers!!
I bought two of these from Amazon Warehouse deals and I have to say I am thrilled with them and the price is outstanding! One we keep plugged in and on in our family room covered in blankets and throws. My husband had chemo a few years ago and has never recovered his internal temperature regulation. He constantly wraps up in blankets, now they are toasty and warm for him when he wants one!We fold the throws small and layer them and then throw a big blanket across the top. The ones underneath are always perfectly warm. Love how well this works. It has a smallish footprint and looks very nice in our family room. The second one we have sitting on the floor in our bathroom mostly because we haven't gotten around to mounting it on the wall. I love the versatility of using it on the floor or the wall. It keeps towels nice and toasty and dries out the damp ones quickly. My husband likes to throw his bathrobe across it while he is in the shower so it warms up and then he replaces the warm and toasty robe with a damp towel to dry. These are perfect for average household use. If you want hot towels then invest in a very expensive hot water pipe towel heater or a warming cabinet. If you like nice and toasty and easy to use while being aesthetically pleasing, then go for these. I'm watching for more warehouse deals to purchase ones for our other bathrooms and kids rooms! These things are great!

It does what I want it to do. I'm happy.
Whether due to climate or my bathroom's layout, my bath towel stays damp all day, so I purchased this to dry it faster -- it does that well.It has a lighted power switch (the switch's light is on when the power is turned on). The Owners Manual says: [Plug it in, turn the power switch on] "After a short time, the towel warmer will reach its operating temperature of 122 degrees F. Temperature will vary according to the temperature of the surroundings."I observe that it takes about 5 minutes to get hot to the touch (probably the 122 degrees), and about 30 minutes will almost completely dry my bath towel. It works well. My "Kill-A-Watt EZ" ($26 on Amazon and worth every penny) says it uses 117 watts of power (not bad at all).I purchased Belkin Conserve Socket F7C009q Energy-Saving Outlet for $10 on Amazon. It's a countdown timer that will turn off power to whatever you plug into it, in 30 minutes or 3 hours or 6 hours. It works great. Recommended that you purchase this too, so you can start the towel dryer then walk away and forget about it.Both items do what I want them to do. I'm happy.

In my opinion having a warm towel to use is secondary to not having to use a clean towel every day. Less Laundry!
I use this every day. I put my towel on it to dry out after taking a shower so I'm able to reuse the same towel for a week or so. It doesn't start smelling like mildew. I used to set it on a timer but just leave it on all the time now. In my opinion having a warm towel to use is secondary to not having to use a clean towel every day. Less Laundry!

Effective and Durable - with a suggestion for maximum efficiency
I purchased this a year ago and have used it several times since (whenever I take a shower...) It dries my monster bath sheet in about 4 hours. I use it with a timer, as most reviewers have done. It still works just fine. This product is sold by a very nice, small family business. When mine arrived without the mounting hardware, I called them directly and they promptly sent me the missing parts at no charge. However, I decided to use the towel warmer in free-standing mode. I noticed that the side bars, while not containing heating elements, soon got quite warm and would therefore waste a significant portion of the heat by radiating it into the room. So I recommend draping the towel over the top and the side bars to minimize the heat loss. The wall mounts interfere with this (as would be the case with most competing products). (A more efficient design would replace the rectangular end pieces with small-radius hollow steel rods just big enough to accommodate the electrical wiring.)

Works great on towels
We got this towel heater after renovating our bathroom and we didn't want to hang towels over the brand new custom door we got for the shower. This heater only uses 105Watts and it can be left on all the time. It actually gets pretty warm - almost hot. I hooked it up to a timer to save money because both our towels will dry with just 7 hours of heat. You have to fold the towels in thirds for them to dry better. We fit both our towels. We also use the other rungs for the washcloths. Definitely recommend
