I would rate it 3.5 but there's no ".5" options here.So the temperature settings are a bit tricky to figure out. If you want to set it to a certain temp, it will go to it, but then after that it goes higher and it goes back down and then up. Don't understand why it does that.Also, it's a bit big for me to use, granted I'm a small person so the handling with me is a bit difficult. A more "knife" like and size handle would be nice. Handle is bulky, like I'm holding an AC adapter (ex: the power boxes your laptop uses to charge it). Also the "knife" part be more like a knife like design instead of that tool construction people use to smooth the cement on the floor or to put on the next brick. I had an easier time uncapping using my heated kitchen knife, but it's just a pain to keep on putting it over the fire to keep it hot to uncap.Other than that it does get the job done.

We were surprised that the temperature control was not in Fahrenheit. It took us a bit to get the hang of it but overall it works great. Easier than manual de-capping. Quicker too.

I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift. He checked our bee hives, which turned out to be full of honey. He tried his new knife and said he LOVES it! He is hard to buy for, so this is great news to me.

Works fine... but when it reaches set temp it cools rapidly because the thermostat doesn't seem to cycle on quickly enough. Had to stop decapping halfway up frames several times. Works okay when hot.

Doesn’t really work as expected. Very finicky and goes up in temperature by itself! Hardly use it now.

Won't hold temp. Even preheated to maximum setting, the knife cools so quickly that you can only uncap 1/2 of one side of one medium frame before cells are getting mangled. Ended up using a bread knife instead.

Easy to use. temperature control seems to work well. It would be nice to have a bit longer cord for using in restrictive spaces.

Wish I wouldn’t have bought it.
