Easy to Use
We ordered this for our new corgi. I was curious, especially about potential genetic diseases such as exhaustion induced collapse (EIC) which our puppy's father was a carrier. The kit comes with two swabs to collect DNA along with an easy to use return box for shipping. The directions were very easy to follow and it took about 15 minutes to collect the samples, package them, and put in the mailbox. Within 3-4 days I received an email telling me the samples had been received along with a website to monitor the progress. A week or so later the sample was being analyzed and within a few days after analysis we had her results. The results confirmed her family tree and that she was 100% Welsh Pembroke Corgi, but gave no info on her family members. The kit tested for over 180 different possible genetic diseases and the results were presented to show those she is a carrier for and those she is clean. It also provided information on her estimated adult size and weight. I was also able to share this with my puppy's breeder. The kit and testing is a little on the pricey side, but provided me with the testing and DNA analysis I was looking for. My only complaint is I haven't determined if I can print a test report?? I'd like to have a print out to put in her booklet along with her medical records, etc. All in all, I'd still recommend it.

Pretty fun! and surprising!
The dog in the picture is my dog Justin who I adopted from the shelter years ago. I've always wondered what he was a mix of. Didn't really matter of course, but I was curious. You really can't tell by the pic so much, but I always thought he was a shepherd mix of some sort. So when I had a little extra money, I decided to DNA test him. The process was quick and easy, except since I was waiting for the results with anticipation it seemed like forever! Turns out he is almost 40% pit bull! Never would have guessed in a million years! He is also 12.5% each of Malamute, Lab and Rottie! Then an additional 25% of four different breed groups. I certainly can't testify as to the accuracy since I don't know his past or heritage, but I have no reason to doubt the results.Anyway, this test was fun, easy, quick, highly rated and surprising. I have a pit "mix" and a little terrier "mix" that I am also considering having tested, esp the terrier because I get so many different guesses on him. They are also shelter dogs.If you are curious about your dogs ancestry, give it a try! There are other tests out there that are more detailed especially regarding possible related health issues (although this test also gives a preliminary health history), they are more expensive. If you just kinda want to know your dog's background, this test is awesome.I even had a question that I emailed customer service about. Since I do have a pitbull and she and Justin play alot, I was wondering (since I really don't see pit bull in Justin), if perhaps he could have picked up some of her DNA in his mouth? They answered me within a day and provided me with a plausible, detailed answer as to why this could not be so.Very happy and satisfied overall. Give it a try!

Spot on and insightful
Very pleased with the results. We tried a different high-end dog DNA test and the results seemed to be mixed up with another person's sample. We bought the other due to reviews here on Amazon. I have to say that Wisdom Panel lived up to all our expectations where the other brand did not.Wisdom Panel was easy to use in order to obtain the sample and mail it in. The communication during the processing was also good, just as the other brand was. The main difference was the quality of the results. The results were far more specific and significantly more believable. Other aspects of the results such as age, weight, etc. were spot on. The details that we could dig into have been very interesting. Everything they said or predicted about our dog is right on the money.I can imagine there are similar stories for the other brand. For us, Wisdom Panel proved to be the champion of two of the most used Dog DNA testing products. We would and have recommended this to friends.

A surprise reason to get the DNA test
What can I say? We thought our rescue Snowey was Maltese and Westie based on what the adoption agency thought. She was found on the street.Snowey has been having stomach problems for the 4 years we had her. She’s around 5 years old. At our vet’s recommendations we went from the fresh chicken or beef or pork my wife cooked for her to Hills i.d. for digestive problems. Didn’t work.We got an ultrasound for her and a bunch of blood tests. One was testing for Addisons. Which she ended up not having. The reason I’m going through all of this is that our Maltese/Westie mix turned out to be part poodle, chihuahua and miniature schnauzer. So much for all of the experts’ guesses based on what she looked like! This information greatly helped our vet who then recommended a different fresh dog food that has worked perfectly. Our dog’s stomach problems have 100% cleared up and it’s been almost 2 months. She’s never gone more than 2 weeks before. The DNA test was worth it to us.

Fun and Interesting
I found the breed % interesting and unexpected- would have given it 5 stars if it could have narrowed the results down to the last 33% of breed as seen in my photo.

Very happy with our results!
We wondered for two years what our rescue dog was, and with her being a rescue also had concerns with certain genetic health issues and what not she may have from before she was rescued. The DNA acquisition was very easy and the instructions were clear. Mailing it back was very easy. Our results took a bit longer than the advertised timeframe, but not a big deal as it was only a couple day difference. When the results came back we were very satisfied and surprised! There were a couple of breeds we never would have thought she was, and the genetic health information was very helpful to know she was a carrier for something but unlikely to actually get it. Would definitely recommend to people who didn't get their dog from a breeder!
