I love the table of content.
It make more sense that the contents of The Complete Book of Chess Strategy by Silman. Also when you get into the specifics, the tabulations of the variants on an opening are superior to any other representation I've seen. Also the parentheses in brackets and comments underneath are very easy to decipher. And algebraic rank/file notation with the non pawn character K, Q, R N, B prefix. Far better than the old school K-KKt3 stuff.

essential
Let,s be honest! Every serious chess player has to have this tome on his or her shelf. You may not use it for a while but sure enough you will be diving into it soon enough! It,s like Grays Anatomy. If you,re in any way attached to the medical profession you will find yourself delving into Grays. It is quite daunting and as a real oldtimer I mourn the passing of the old Notation system which was rich in the old analysis by the greats like Capablanca etc. I never really liked the logical Algebraic system,I find it a bit unpoetic. To me it seems to be a sharp dividing line separating us from the past of Chess with it,s great characters . That,s only me!
