Hope for Each Day: 365 Devotions for Kids

Wish the verses were all from KJV
I got this devotional for my young son for his birthday. It is a little mature for him...I'd say ages 8-10 would be a good range for understanding the examples and content if they're doing devotions independently, but does ok for younger children when doing devotions with a parent who will explain a bit. It would be ok for slightly older children who are new believers but may seem a little more on the simple side if a child has been doing devotions or Bible studies on their own for a little while. I say this only because it literally takes like 2 minutes to read and seems to focus on only 1 verse rather than longer selections. So for a more mature Christian child looking to learn more, i would imagine it wouldn't be their only time in the Word. Wonderful, concise topics though that spark conversations and thoughts to csuse us to focus on spiritual growth. Just 2 examples, having a clear conscience and accepting that we can make choices to change but must trust that God is able to do what we cannot. I do prefer KJV as its truest to manuscripts but i just look up the verse listed at the top of the page in his Bible. It's a great tool for beginning to learn about having devotions and building a relationship with the Lord.

Just okay
I really want to like this book, but it does not feel like it was written for kids. Honestly, I have the strong impression that it has been paraphrased from a devotional book written for adults. We've been using this as a morning devotional for the past month or so. I have to ad lib a lot to get the message across to my kids (ages 5 and 7). So far most of the passages have felt disjointed, and the verse only obliquely points to the lesson. There also is not really any flow to the lessons. They don't build on one another that I can tell.

It's great if you only want fluff
This is just OK. My 11 year old daughter asked for a devotion and this is one of the ones I got her. She says it's just OK but she wishes it had more substance...as she said about both the kid's devotions I got her. I believe the problem we are running into is that devotions geared for children are over-simplified. But just because they are children and may need things in simpler terms, doesn't mean they can't handle deep truths. This is just fluff with no meat and potatoes...nothing they can take away and chew on. She desires more. She is looking for something deeper....and we just can't seem to find one for children that still has substance.

Beautiful and Lively
Ordered for my son, niece and nephew for First Communion gifts. Simple and engaging for the whole family or individually. It should be noted in case it bothers someone or it is their preference, day one is titled January 1 and so on. So if you give it as an Easter gift your kiddo/family will turn to April 1 to start the devotional rather than start on page one. Looking at the topics, I don’t think this feature makes it out of order. Just a different starting point.

Great devotional for families.
Love this for my younger kids especially. I have ages 11 to 2 years old and I read it to all usually but especially love it for my 2,4, and 6 year old. Simple yet real truth.

Good solid application and explanation
Great to read to the kids daily. It's short and holds their attention. It is relevant and applicable to every day life. Even after his passing, Billy Graham's writing continues to inspire.

My daughter was comforted by this book!
We gave this to our daughter at Easter. Her grandmother died 12 days later. She told us the devotional brings her comfort. She also read it to her grandmother while she was very sick.

Wonderful and solid teaching
My 8 year old grandson has been fascinated with Billy Grahams life. I bought him this devotional and he loves reading it every day with no encouragement. It is very solid scriptural teaching at a child’s level. Does this grandmas heart good to see him growing in his faith in Jesus.
