It fulfills its perfect purpose.
It's a fantastic product. It's had a great effect on me. Well, perfectly, for my stomach. The stomach problems I had have been going away after just the first package. Congratulations to the manufacturers.

Does What It's Supposed To Do
This stuff tastes reeeeelly awful...BUT...it works very welll to regulate the digestive system, so 5 stars here. I flunked the cholesterol test at my recent checkup and read that psyllium husk powder along with lifestyle changes can get cholesterol levels down. So, to avoid going on medication, I am trying this. Maybe it would taste better in apple juice than it does in plain water? Anyway, good product and good price.

Haven't been more regular in years
Decided to try this out since pretty much everything else wasn't helping, except laxatives. I haven't been diagnosed with Crohn's disease before, but I've had a few nurses and doctors tell me that I have based on symptoms and the fact that my injection medication for psoriatic arthritis is helping with symptoms. It really messes with my bowels, all the time. So finding something that helps move things along like they used to when I was a kid is very important to me. This fiber seems to help make things come out easier or with little effort, pass smoothly and cleanly, and most importantly more regularly.I take a tablespoon usually in the morning with about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of water. I put it in dry at the bottom of my cup and then I use the sprayer on my kitchen faucet to spray it and mix it well. I'll use the sprayer for about the first cup and then switch over to the regular flow setting on the faucet. It seems to mix it well, but you have to drink it fast. Otherwise, it will start to turn into a gel that gets stuck to the cup or becomes a clumpy mess. The other thing you can try is using a fork to mix it in a full two cups of water. That wouldn't recommend any less if you're putting a tablespoon of the fiber in. Some weeks I have to use more, depending on what I eat, but usually it's about a tablespoon a day in the morning. By the next morning is when I typically have a bowel movement, sometimes in the middle of the day but not usually. So it makes it quite nice that I can wait till I'm home to have my "special moment".The drawbacks that it has is definitely that it will start to turn to a thick gel depending on how fast you drink it. And the taste reminds me of Wasa crackers. It's kind of a woody flavor but there is really not much of a flavor to it. I have mixed it with cereal before, and I do not recommend it, lol. You need to drink it fast is the key. Just think of chugging water down when you've been out on a hot day and haven't drank nearly enough water to be hydrated correctly. Just drink it quick and you'll be fine.It is the only stuff that seems to be working for me. I've tried everything that I could find. The only other thing that works for me is magnesium citrate or dulcolax, stuff like that. But for obvious reasons, it's not recommended to you just flush out your system all the time. The psyllium husk seems to move through your body at a consistent speed.

Get things a movin'
This will get your bowels moving. But not violently. Does change texture of whatever you mix it with. Does not dissolve completely. Take a scoop twice daily to assist in me getting my daily fiber intake.

No need to pay more! So simple and effective.
Recipe: As a drink: Add 1 level tablespoon (3 teaspoons) of NOW psyllium husk powder into a container. Add 12 ounces of water (I use distilled). Stir vigorously with a milk frother. Drink IMMEDIATELY. If you wait even a minute the consistency becomes unpleasant. An alternative is to mix with unsweetened applesauce. You need to eat it quickly! It starts to thicken as soon as it's combined with any type of liquid or moisture. Now for the review:There's no way to sugar-coat it so I'll just say it. I've reached that age (50) where I need some help with the fiber in my diet. I eat apples and beans quite often but they don't seem to be enough. Now for the graphic part. Look away now if you're squeamish. I recently had a thrombosed hemorrhoid that lasted for several days and finally burst. I attribute this to straining at the toilet. As I've gotten older I noticed that I might not go for a few days, somedays several days, then all at once I have to go 5-8 times in a few hour span. This is an absolute onslaught to my system and causes flare-ups. The thrombosed roid was a first. I want it to be the last!Enter psyllium husk from NOW FOODS. I originally started using it during 2017 when I was doing Keto. With it's 7 grams of dietary fiber and 8 total carbs it works out to 1 net carb/tbsp. If you've done Keto you know how hard it can be to stay regular. I eventually stopped the diet and let the psyllium husk go stale.Never again will I be without this product! It is one of the few things I can put into my body and see and feel results almost immediately.I buy the 24 ounce bags of powder. One level tablespoon is what I take, so that means I can get 76 servings or enough to last me 2.5 months. There are other brands and flavors of this on the market that are much more expensive. Do yourself a favor and just get this one. It really is the best I've tried. You can get a better deal on it if you buy the 'husks' instead of the powder. I've used it before to add to baking goods and applesauce. It's really hard to drink the 'husks' version. At the time of writing (8-28-24) a dose (1 tbsp) is 23.7 cents. When I was suffering with the roids I would have pad thousands of dollars for relief. I consider this preventative maintenance (insert wry smile here).

Great fiber: Awful taste
Let’s start with the positive: I love that the product is organic, not full of nonsense or chemicals. It’s strictly psyllium husk and that’s it. If you’re looking for a clean fiber source this is an excellent option. The taste is awful. It’s taste like wet dirty cardboard and is both difficult to get down and the taste lingers for a while.
