PICTURED: I photographed an old scruffy lavender plant, a climbing rose on my front window, and the surface of an oil painting portrait (note you can see each brush mark!!!). I have a lifetime involvement in photography and many times in the past I could afford to purchase very expensive equipment, camera bodies and lenses. Now I'm old and living on my social security retirement income.. I've occasionally tried the advent of super low priced lenses being created for e-mount and other cameras but usually buy super-used expensive equipment. I took a risk and bought this (Altura brand or labeled) Sony E Mount Lens 6.5mm f/2.0 Wide Angle Lens Circular Fisheye. The sharpness quality and potentiality of this little guy is AMAZING out of the box. Almost zero learning curve required (but do pay attention to the few parameters, such as on a Sony e-mount Nex or a6000 series or A7 series camera go to the menu item and enable "Release without (w/o) Lens". (Menu -> Set Up -> Release w/o Lens and this enables this lens to work on the camera, not freeze up or otherwise refuse to work). Then you will use M or Manual settings. If you aren't familiar with using manual settings, this is a great fun way to learn. You just will hand set your ISO film sensitivity setting (high number for very low light conditions, low number for sunlight, etc). Your shutter speed and you aperature or f/stop. As you adjust these you'll see your image change to what you like on your LED Screen (or viewfinder). Fantastic lens, delivered overnight and received early enough in the day to go shooting! Yay! I have never played with a fisheye lens, and I'm still discovering some of the potential that this lens has to offer. I purchased it for taking long exposure night photography, which I have not yet had a chance to try. Because of its crazy-wide 190 degree field of view, I can take a photograph of the entire sky, pointing straight up, and have the horizon appear 360 degrees around the photo. I've done this in the daytime; I cannot wait to try it at night.Understand that a fisheye lens is a specialty purpose, almost novelty lens. Since it has a field of view greater than 180 degrees, the images it produces are round--and there is no way to "de-fisheye" them into rectangular images. Sure, you can crop a rectangular area out of the images, but since the fisheye effect gets much more pronounced near the edge, cropping a chunk out of the middle just looks like you took a regular photo with a badly uncorrected lens.The quality and build of the lens are great. Focus and aperture rings are smooth, and clickless with just the right amount of resistance. The aluminum lens cap is friction fit, and is lined on the mating surfaces with velvet-like material so that it won't mar the lens barrel. The semi-hard case is very good quality, and provides solid protection. A rear lens cap is also included.Due to the design of the lens, it cannot be used with screw-on filters, and so it is not threaded. The very wide angle of view prevents the use of a lens hood. Also, the wide angle means that for outdoor shots, the sun will be in the frame as often as not. The lens has a tendency to flare, both inside the circular image, and more noticeably outside in the black space surrounding the image. I happen to like this, and it's easy to clean up in any case. I'll try to include some example photos where this is evident, but Amazon isn't letting me attach photos to this review for some reason.

Got this lens a year er so ago. Not gonna lie hated it. Couldn't get a good focus with it maybe one in fifty would be useable. Then about a week ago begining of February 2023 I was shooting some birds and was using my focus magnifier that's when it hit me. This lens hasn't came off my camera since. This thing produces some gorgeous pictures. The photo I posted was taken at 6:30am just before sunrise off my porch.

At first the lens appeared to have very good quality with the metal construction and all, but with only a few months of very light use the focus ring broke and turns freely without actually focusing.I’m very carefull with my equipment and it always was stored in its included case but I guess it wasn’t enough.

I had a good understanding what the lens was capable, it is a fun lens all pictures are round, not recommended for portrait, pictures are very clear even on the edge.Caution must be used when when using this lens as it has a 190 degree angle will have your feet in the pictures.

Requires camera to be in manual mode only and is not fully compatible with Sony Cameras. Picture quality is mediocre. Didn't expect a lot from a $99 lens but it still feel short.

I went ahead and got this because the high apature was attractive and it said it worked with full frame sensor E frames in APS-C crop mode, but it definitely does not. The picture is of the camera in crop mode and clearly it still has a large amount of vignetteing. My friend who bought a similar lens told me what mine looks like in crop mode is what his looks like in full frame mode, so I'll be returning this one and buying the one he got. The image quality looks like it may be nice but it does not work with my camera

I'm not a professional photographer but I enjoy expending time taking quality pictures. I bought this lens to take pictures on fun occasions and honestly the results have been excellent. The quality of the pictures when I zoom in are awesome and it fits perfectly on my Sony Camera, honestly I'm really satisfied with my purchase.
