overall it works well as an audio player, but with a few annoyances
I wanted to give this product 5 stars, but I am giving it 4 stars only because it performs better than other similar products. However, it probably deserves 3 stars. It's not an MP4 player as advertised. The video must be in AMV format to play and most files are not in AMV format so you need to convert them. Unfortunately, most video converters I have found convert from AMV format and not to AMV format. Also, the video just isn't that good. Here are the other issues with this unit. It is a real pain to get the Micro SD card from the top of the unit. It goes all the way in and in order to get it out, you need to use tweezers to pull it out. It's not spring loaded, which is probably good, but it goes all the way in. You can't just grab the ends with your fingers. This is OK if you are not planning to remove the card that often. The menu system is not the greatest. It starts off well by having categories such as Music, Pictures, etc., but then when you select it using the Menu button, it is not that easy to navigate. You will press the wrong buttons, find out you can't go back, and in order to go back to the main menu, you have to shut the unit off and turn it back on. They needed to have a few more buttons on it. When trying to view photos downloaded straight from Facebook, it would not display them giving an "invalid file" error message. In order to get them to view, had to open them up and re-save them in a photo editor. Although the screen is a decent size, the picture quality is not that great. It can display the photos, but it is not impressive. The unit defaults to shut off quickly when not in use, but this can be adjusted somewhat in the settings. And finally, it doesn't use the present day USB micro connector such as those found on cell phones so you need the cable that comes with it. I have not tested battery life yet. The reason for the 4 stars though is that it plays music well. The ear buds that it comes with is good quality. So, if you want a basic audio player, this will do the job, but the other features need more work.

Save your money; look elsewhere.
EDIT:After a couple months of use, the buttons no longer work properly and it's nearly impossible to even play my music let alone change/fix any settings or functionality. The back button won't make up its mind if it wants to go backward or forward, the forward button rarely works at all, the menu button is stuck in a pressed position, and the battery won't decide if it wants to last for 2 hours or 30 minutes. Save your money; look elsewhere.ORIGINAL 3-STAR REVIEW:Works great as an MP3 player and have not had any major problems with it thus far. However, I do have a couple complaints:~It does not support MP4 video files, and it states in the manual that it only supports AMV video files.~The buttons seem kinda stiff and are rather loud when pressed. While this isn't really a glaring error, it is a minor annoyance and also a mild concern as other MP3 players I've used in the past with similar properties have become broken or difficult to use very easily over time.~The SD card sits almost completely flush with the casing and can be a difficult to push in and click in order to get the card out of the device. Once again, not a glaring error (especially since you can just plug the player into your computer via USB); just a minor annoyance.~The USB cable included with the device seems a bit flimsy, and I'm afraid that it might become damaged after extensive use.

Very good sound and battery; bad navigation, ear bud, and user manual
Some notes on this RShop Fashion MP4 device:• I’ve used this MP4 device for less than a month so far.• To my surprise, this MP4 device was mailed directly from China (and was made in China). I googled the location, and one of the first results was Alibaba -- interesting. With free shipping, it took about 17 days for delivery.• The plastic container the device came in doesn’t indicate the brand name (RShop) or the model number. It only says MP4 on the container.• The device itself was well packaged.• Charging cable seems sturdy, not flimsy.• The included ear bud is bad. Using it resulted in hearing an echo-y sound that also breaks up. I had to set volume all the way up to 30 or so to get a good listening level with it. I then switched to using my own Sony ear buds, which provided a very good sound and a normal listening volume around 10-15.• The back of the device has a sticker that says if we have any problem with the device, don’t hesitate to contact them, and they will try to resolve the problem within 1 working day. That’s great – but who do you contact? There’s no email address or any other contact information.• There’s no mention of the warranty on this device, if there is any.• The user manual is very inadequate. There’s so much that it doesn’t cover. For example, within the Music category, what are the Relay, Relay times, and Relay Gap modes for? I’ve never heard of those terms.• Navigation is illogical and inconsistent. For examples, you press the right arrow button in order to go down a list (most of the time), the unmarked center button is for play/pause only, you use the Menu button to select (most of the time), etc.• It takes at least 9 clicks of various buttons to change from one music folder to another music folder.• If you’re listening to music, and you want to change to the picture category, you have to first turn off the device and turn it back on to do so.• The display is very informative, packed with information. It even has a bar-graph visual. The display stays on for about 15 seconds. I can’t find any option to change the duration.• The equalizer has 7 modes – but they make little difference in the sound.• You can set the System Time under System Settings, but it will revert to the default incorrect time after a while. Don’t know what this time setting is for anyway. It’s much too difficult to navigate to just to check the time.• The folders you create 1 level below the root level will be listed in the order that you paste the folders into the device -- not in alphabetical order.* Pictures display clearly on the 1.7 inch screen (diagonal). Impressive for such a small screen.* I haven't used yet the other functions such as video, voice record, FM radio, and text. Regarding text, I have the feeling will not show up too well on the screen, because the quality of the texts on my pictures didn't show up well.* The user guide says to ensure that the device is turned on before you charge it. This seems odd to me.• The battery charge seems to last a very long time. However the battery meter display is misleading. It takes a long time for the battery meter to move from 100% to 75% remaining charge, which is good. But once the meter hits 75%, it will drop all the way down to 0% in about 1 hour. So for me, the 75% mark is treated as a warning that the battery will soon be completely drained.• There are numerous other oddities and annoyances regarding the function of this device – too many to list.• Bottom line: you just have to keep playing with the device, and learn through trial and error how to get things done with this MP4 device.• Despite all its annoyances, IF this device last for many years (as have my other budget MP3 players), then I would say this device is a good buy considering the price I paid. I purchased this device mainly to listen to music, and with my own ear bud, the sound is very good.

You will be severely disappointed if you buy this product
You will be severely disappointed if you buy this product. First couple times tried charging it, it said full battery but would only last a couple minutes to 10 times max. I then used and AC to USB wall charger and it worked for a total of about 45 minutes. Next time tried to charge it, it just says loading and it never charges. The 32GB Micro SD card doesn't even make this worth it. Save your money or buy a MP3 player worth it

Malfunctioned after three weeks.
The RShop MP3 player worked well for a few weeks, then it abruptly stopped working even though it was properly charged. Had to return it.
