I first bought elastic laces for quick transition times doing triathlons, but these will be used because bending down to tie laces when you get to near 80 years old isn't much fun.They hold the shoes as tight as you need and make the task of putting on shoes much easier. I also bought a long shoe horn, not very expensive when you consider the value they bring

Great idea if you have kids unable to tie their shoe laces, they can be overly tight so should ensure they are not initially too tight or they will continue to tighten over the day.
