This is a great book
I've been playing piano by ear for years, but I never learned how to sight read. This book is simple enough where you don't need to spend days on one song, and you can keep moving along at a good pace. The music is fun to play and there's some very good instruction between each piece. After several months of playing and reviewing pieces from this book, my sight reading has really improved. 5 Stars!

This series was recommended to me by my piano teacher for one of ...
This series was recommended to me by my piano teacher for one of my STUDENTS who is a teenager. I love that theory, technique, performance , and lesson materials are all in one book. Much simpler for students to keep up with and use than having four or five books and constantly flipping from one to the other. Also appreciate that these books develop the left hand for chording (block chords, arpeggios, etc) while still including linear accompaniment styles. And, it contains really good solo pieces.

GOOD!
35 years ago, as a child, I learned basics of a Russian accordion("Bayan") .Today I'm 43 y.o.But I always dreamed about piano. With Alfred's course it is kind of dream that comes true!I completed book One in 9 months and now I'm in the middle of book Two.It is really cool...Particularly after russian school it is very fresh approach.Less formal, more enjoyable music. Really great feeling while learning.Important to go through every exercise(piece), in every one there is a little bit to learn.I also have a Hanon's "fingers aerobic" as an additional important component in 20% of lessons, but mostly I use just Alfred's book.I like this book very much. It is a fully charged course with great attention to details.

Pretty good
Will teach you the basics. Progresses slower then the Alfred books, but both will likely work well. As I’m fond of staying, I personally don’t believe any of these books can replace a good piano teacher. There are just to many subtleties that a book can’t teach. If you don’t have access or are unable to afford a teacher then this is the next best thing. Most want to know if this or the Alfred books are better, but it depends on your learning style. I believe this series is a bit less frustrating and moves slower which may be good due to the potential frustration of learning to play an instrument that requires a fair amount of multitasking.

Improves on sight-reading
I didn’t know what to expect in this book and it’s perfect. I learned piano as a child for 10 years and wanted to get back into playing again. I noticed my sight-reading was becoming poor so decided to invest in this book. The book has reviews of chords with visual displays of the actually piano keys and letters that relate to them. View the pictures for further details.

Quality home-study piano course
This is a great series for adult beginners. I’ve had this book for a few weeks and learned some solid (basic) piano knowledge and basic songs. It’s a bit challenging at about page 38-40, so I’ve turned back a few pages in order to progress past this part. Overall, this is a quality home study program that actually included three books.

I've played violin for years so I'm comfortable with reading the "top" staff
I'm an adult wanna be piano player. I've played violin for years so I'm comfortable with reading the "top" staff, other than that, complete newbie with all things piano. I worked through this book (level one)in about 4 months an hour a day most days and I feel great about what I've learned. Very efficient, detailed instructions, gets you playing songs with both hands right away, which is both fun and encouraging. I'm excited to start the second book.

No audio files or any purchase for such
I have the books since a long time. But now I am abroad and I downloaded the Kindle version! There is no mention or any indication about how to get the audio files! That is pathetic and a serious oversight. Kindle should also make annotations possible! Is anyone there smart enough to recognize this necessity? The programmers and designers of the online versions are only dull computer people with no interest or idea what is really necessary for such a course! Pathetic to say the least. Each music piece should have an audio file with it. The student needs to hear what is to be learned, is that so hard to integrate into this courses? Wake up folks do something! Fix this problem.

Brilliant
Started to learn the piano 2 years ago, aged 67, and my teacher suggested Alfred's basic adult all in one level 1 and we have worked through that during that time. So now I am at level 2 and bought this one to continue my lessons with. They are so cleverly designed that they have you playing pieces very quickly, but it also includes theory pages so you can learn and understand values of notes, practising cords so that , when integrated within the next piece there is an understanding not only of the notes you are playing, but how they are played. Can't recommend these books enough, they are brilliant, and makes learning and practising an enjoyable confidence building pastime and you want to keep turning the page to see what the next piece is. Arrived very quickly, excellent price, 5+ stars.

This book is like a carrot dangled over the head of a donkey (I'm the donkey)
I highly recommend Books I and II. Alfred piano course is really good at setting loads of tiny incremental goals for you to aim for. You sort of master one skill then Alfred immediately raises the bar by introducing something new - you rarely get a chance to relax - there's always something new to learn. I personally really like that. I reckon that's why these 'Alfred's [Musical Instrument] Books for Beginners' have been bestsellers for over thirty years. I used 'Alfred's Piano Book I' to learn keyboard from scratch during Lockdown. I loved doing this. These Alfred books are the business. If someone's found something better, I'd like to know about it.

Great book to teach yourself
I highly recommend this book. I am using this book to teach myself piano (I do have music knowledge already). It starts off with easier pieces and gradually gets harder. The music is grouped in keys - C Major, E minor etc - giving you several different pieces to play with similar notes/chords before moving on to the next section. There's some theory and exercises to improve finger strength, agility and techniques. Am very impressed with this book and so far it's really helping my basic playing progress well.

BRILLIANT
I learned basic piano as a child - on retiring fifty years later I was bought a piano to fulfill a life long wish of learning to play it better. Having found a piano teacher, he on listening to my ability recommended this book. It is brilliant. Having come in at the right level I found the first couple of pieces relatively easy which in turn gave me the appetite for more. Whatever your taste in music, this book will cater for it. It's wide variety of pieces makes it a very friendly and fun book. Such is my relationship with it, I have even ventured (and mastered) types of music that in the past did not appeal to me. The authors of this brilliant music book are to be applauded - for me it has led to a new, thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding pastime.
