This was originally ordered with the intention of passing it on to my niece, who's nearly one. The thing is, I've actually become quite enchanted by it myself!The box is nothing special, but fine for giving as a gift - it tells you what it is and what it does, and has a picture of the product. Open it up, and you find the nightlight, shrink wrapped and ready to go. There's a USB to 5V cable, which you can use to power it if you don't want to put batteries in. A shame that it doesn't come with a UK 3 pin plug or an internal re-chargeable battery, but I suppose this means you can market it internationally. There's also a basic sheet of instructions in a half hearted attempt at English. There are a few versions of this product on Amazon - check out the product descriptions on those for a better idea of how to use it.Remove the shrink wrap, plug it into your USB port or add batteries, and you're ready to go. Keep the cover on if you just want to use it as a nightlight, or take it off to allow it to project onto the ceiling. Button A just activates a white nightlight bulb. Button B activates the coloured bulbs - blue, yellow, green. Hit button A again to add reds to the mix, and B to activate what I'm calling "Disco mode" when it switches between all the different colours. Button C activates the motor, which gets the whole globe spinning and projecting at the same time.Hubby and I were captivated by the lightship on the ceiling. The stars and moon symbols seem to move in opposite directions, so it's quite hypnotic to watch, especially as the stars twinkle on and off.I think if you needed silence for your baby to sleep, you'd have to make sure that this was placed away from them, because while the motor is quiet it's by no means silent. However, a bit of white noise is sometimes a good thing if baby won't sleep. Don't allow anything to rest on it while it's moving though - I placed my hand on it to see if it had heated up (It hadn't) and it sounded like I was strangling it.Overall, we love this product. My niece can benefit from it when she stays over - until then, I'm using it to help me relax. Thanks to the manufacturer, who sent me this in exchange for an honest review. It's great for babies and adults who need to de-stress!
